I’m getting many queries to this website about when the Maid of the Mist is going to open or if it is even open yet. Historically, the maid of the mist will launch in mid April to early May. I think this year, it will be more like May. I took a walk down to the Falls this past Saturday and there is still a lot of ice at the base of the falls; and as a matter of fact there is still snow on the ground near Terrapin point on the U.S. side of the border, down near the water. Terrapin point itself also remains closed due to ice conditions. I will try and get down there this weekend and get a picture of the current ice levels for everyone to see but the weather here in Niagara Falls actually calls for some possible snow on Monday. You would not think so considering we got up to 69 degrees just yesterday. Let’s hope for a launch by May 10! I will keep you posted - keep your eye out on this blog for more information.
